Policy: CPR and First Aid
Summary:
As health professionals, Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) may have to deal with an emergency involving one of their clients. For this reason, it is vital that RMTs are adequately trained in the administration of CPR and First Aid, therefore, valid and current certification in both CPR and First Aid is a requirement of registration for any individual submitting an initial registration application.
Policy
To meet the CPR and First Aid requirement an applicant’s CPR and First certification must meet the following criteria:
- Certification Levels Accepted:
- CPR: Applicants must be certified in one of the following levels: A, B, C, HCP (Healthcare Provider), BLS (Basic Life Support) or First Responder
- First Aid: Emergency or Standard/Intermediate
- Accredited Providers:
- Certifications must be obtaining from an accredited Canadian provider of CPR and First Aid courses.
- Certification Validity:
- Applicants must ensure their certifications contains either an effective or expiry date and the expiry date cannot be older than three years at the time of application.
- Modality:
- Courses must be taken in person or a combination of in person and online.
Online-only courses will not be accepted.
- Courses must be taken in person or a combination of in person and online.
