The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) is looking for RMTs to serve on Committees as non-Board members for a one-year term beginning January 1, 2025.
What is the role of a non-Board member?
Non-Board members serve on CMTO’s Committees and participate in decision-making about RMTs’ practise and conduct, review applications for registration where concerns are identified, and may also participate in the development of policies, Standards of Practice and guidelines.
To be eligible for appointment, you must:
- Reside in Ontario;
- Have no terms, conditions or limitations on your certificate of registration;
- Not be the subject of any disciplinary or incapacity proceeding by a regulatory body in any jurisdiction;
- Not be a director, officer, committee member, employee, or a contractor with the Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of Ontario or similar national or provincial organization; and
- Not have been employed by CMTO, within the last three years.
Please review the full list of eligibility requirements under Section 2(A) By-Law 6.
Compensation
Non-Board members are paid a pro-rated per diem of $275 based on full-day meetings and some preparation time. Meetings are primarily conducted virtually. However, should the need arise, an in-person meeting may be required. Out-of-pocket expenses, such as accommodations, meals and travel, will be reimbursed in accordance with CMTO’s compensation policy.
How do I apply?
- Review the following documents to determine whether you have the required competencies and can meet the time commitment:
- Complete CMTO’s Orientation Program. Completing this program ensures that you understand CMTO’s role in protecting the public interest and are familiar with the duties, obligations and expectations of Committee Members.
- Fill out the Non-Board Committee Member Application Form.
- Include a cover letter that contains a brief statement outlining why you are interested in becoming a non-Board Member, your qualifications, and any other information that may be relevant, such as additional skills, knowledge, experience, attributes and rationale for your ratings of the competencies on the Application Form; and
