Proposed Changes to By-Law No. 7: Fees

Provide your feedback on proposed by-law changes

The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) is proposing amendments to By-Law No. 7: Fees for Registration, Examinations and Other Activities of the College. The proposed changes have been approved in principle by the CMTO Board and are now being shared for feedback before being finalized.

Proposed Changes

CMTO is proposing the following amendments to By-Law No. 7, effective January 1, 2027:

  • Section 7 – Initial Application Fee: reduced from $225 to $150
  • Section 9 – Inactive Certificate Fee: reduced from 50% to 25% of the General Certificate fee (from $457.50 to $228.75)
  • Miscellaneous Fee Schedule – Workshop Fee: eliminated

The General Certificate fee and all other fees set out in By-Law No. 7 would remain unchanged.

Why These Changes

CMTO reviews its fees annually as part of its financial oversight mandate. These proposed reductions are tied to confirmed savings from CMTO’s office relocation and reflect the Board’s commitment to reducing financial barriers for registrants entering the profession or temporarily leaving practice. Holding the General Certificate fee unchanged for a third consecutive year, combined with these targeted reductions, reflects CMTO’s ongoing focus on fee stability and financial stewardship.

You are invited to provide feedback on the proposed amendments to By-Law No. 7. The deadline to submit your feedback is August 31, 2026. View the proposed by-law changes. If you have any questions, please contact us at feedback@cmto.com.
