Nomination Guide
Board elections in Districts 2, 5 and 7 are taking place Wednesday, September 30, 2026. One Registered Massage Therapist (RMT/MT) from each district will be elected to serve on the College’s Board. To be considered, do/gather the following:
Pre-Nomination Orientation Program
Complete the Pre-Nomination Orientation Program. This training program ensures you understand CMTO’s role in protecting the public interest, the responsibilities of Board members, and the expectations of the Ministry of Health.
Eligibility Criteria
Please note that no candidate can run for election in more than one electoral district. Therefore, if you qualify as an Academic Board Member (i.e., you are a Massage Therapy educator with at least 12 student contact hours per week), you cannot run for election in Districts 2 or 5.
In Accordance with By-Law No. 2 candidates must meet all eligibility requirements as follows:
- District 2 and District 5
- Eligibility for Election of Board Members (Non-Academic) By–Law No. 2 Section 13
- District 7
- Eligibility for Elections of Academic Board Members By-law No. 2 Section 14
Nomination Forms
The nomination form of candidates in District 2 and District 5 must be signed by you, the candidate, and must include the names and signatures (electronic signatures are acceptable) of at least five (5) Massage Therapists. One of these individuals must be the registrant formally nominating you and must be eligible to vote in the electoral district where the election is taking place. The remaining four (4) must be eligible to vote in any electoral district.
- Signatures on the nomination form can be submitted individually.
- In lieu of a signature, an email stating the name of the RMT/MT the registrant is nominating can be sent from the registrant’s email address on file with CMTO.
A Massage Therapist is eligible to vote if their principal place of Massage Therapy practice is in the electoral district or, if the Massage Therapist is not engaged in the practice of Massage Therapy, principally resides in the electoral district.
The nomination form of candidates in District 7 must be signed by you, the candidate, and must include the names and signatures (electronic signatures are acceptable) of at least two registrants eligible to vote in electoral district 7, one of whom shall be the registrant nominating the candidate.

Once you have completed the Orientation Program and Nomination Form, please proceed to the Application form (will be available when applications open in July).
Applications close promptly at 5:00 p.m. on Friday August 21, 2026.

Withdrawing a Nomination
As per By-Law No. 2, Section 20 a candidate may withdraw their nomination no more than five days after the close of nominations (August 26, 2026), by advising the Office of the Registrar in writing at officeofregistrar@cmto.com.
