On May 20, 2022, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health issued an order that:

• Includes a case definition of monkeypox.
• Requires all physicians, nurse practitioners, persons who operate a group practice of physicians or nurse practitioners, hospitals and regulated health professionals who practice at public hospitals to report any individual who meets the case definition of monkeypox to Public Health Ontario.

RMTs who work in public hospitals are encouraged to discuss with their employers how to meet their reporting obligation as outlined in the order.
