Illegal Practitioner Advisory: Bingyan Chen Charged with Two Charges of Sexual Assault

TORONTO, December 4, 2024 – The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) confirms that York Regional Police has charged Bingyan Chen with two charges:
- sexual assault; and
- sexual interference.
This individual was allegedly posing as a Massage Therapist before arrest. Please see the York Regional Police news release for further information.
“CMTO’s priority is protecting the public interest. We are deeply concerned by the allegations of this individual posing as a Massage Therapist. We remind Ontarians to always check the CMTO’s public register tool to confirm that the person they seek treatment from is a qualified and authorized Registered Massage Therapist or Massage Therapist. CMTO thanks the York Regional Police for their efforts and swift action in this matter,” said Maureen Boon, CMTO’s Registrar and CEO.
