Direction for members with inquiries regarding the new HST

Many members have been inquiring about the upcoming change of the GST to the HST, effective July 1, 2010. As specified in the Regulated Health Professions Act, the role of the College is to protect the public interest with respect to massage therapy. Issues regarding tax law and business operations of members is not within that scope. The College is forbidden by law to advocate on behalf of the profession. The Registered Massage Therapists' Association of Ontario (formerly the Ontario Massage Therapist Association) has information for massage therapists who are required to charge the HST. If you have questions or concerns about how the HST is going to affect your business, please direct these to the RMTAO. The RMTAO website is www.rmtao.com.
