Augusto Oliveira Cunha – CMTO Suspends Certificate of Registration, Charged with One Count of Sexual Assault

TORONTO, April 21, 2026 – The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) confirms they have suspended the Certificate of Registration of Augusto Oliveira Cunha, who has been charged with one count of sexual assault by York Regional Police. This individual is not permitted to practise Massage Therapy in the province of Ontario while under investigation for this charge.

Any sexual behaviour by a Registered Massage Therapist toward a patient is abuse. CMTO has suspended this individual’s Certificate of Registration and is fully cooperating with the York Regional Police at this time,” said Maureen Boon, CMTO’s Registrar and CEO. 

CMTO urges anyone with relevant information, personal experiences, or concerns about this individual, or any other registrants, to contact the College immediately.
