If you are planning to gift Massage Therapy care over the holidays, purchasing a gift certificate from an RMT/MT is a good way to do so. When purchasing a gift certificate, if you need a receipt for your purchase, your RMT/MT can provide one. However, the receipt should clearly describe that the payment is for the gift certificate or gift card and not indicate that the treatment has happened.

It is important to be aware that when treatments are paid for by gift certificates or gift cards, RMTs/MTs cannot provide receipts with dollar amounts for those treatments. To learn more, refer to Standard of Practice: Fees and Billing.
