The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario is pleased to announce that Evelyn Waters will be joining the College in the position of Deputy Registrar effective June 3, 2013. Evelyn graduated from University College Dublin (Ireland) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Diploma in Higher Education, which led to her teaching both at the secondary and adult education level in Dublin.
Evelyn brings a wealth of experience with her, including an in-depth understanding of the health regulatory system in Ontario. She began her career in Canada with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO), where she gained knowledge in the area of complaints and discipline. She subsequently moved to the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO) when it was proclaimed in 1994. As Deputy Registrar, Evelyn held a variety of roles, including overall responsibility for the investigations and hearing processes, registration practices and patient relations. She has been instrumental in policy development, drafting regulations, implementing guidelines and creating an online jurisprudence education course. Evelyn is also very familiar with national exam development as she has represented Ontario on the National Dental Hygiene Certification Board since 1998 and served as its President from 2002 to 2005.
Evelyn’s past experience and knowledge of health regulation and legislation will provide further depth to CMTO’s management team and assist the College in realizing some important projects.
