Call for Participants: Standards of Practice Advisory Group and Focus Group

The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (the “College”) has started an exciting new project to revise and update the Standards of Practice to reflect current needs and trends in Massage Therapy practice.

The College is looking for 16-20 Massage Therapists from across Ontario who represent the diverse perspectives of the profession. Specifically, the College is seeking Massage Therapists from a variety of practice settings with different levels of experience.

If you would like to participate, there are two ways to get involved:

  1. Apply to participate as a member of the Standards of Practice Advisory Group (SPAG). The SPAG will provide input into the development and modification of the revised Standards of Practice, make suggestions and recommendations on proposed content and wording, and offer solutions to identified issues.

Time Commitment: Approximately three teleconferences that are 2 hours in length and one full day in-person session in Toronto over a 14-month period, starting in January 2020.

  2. Apply to participate in a telephone focus group to offer feedback on the current Standards of Practice. The focus groups will be held by teleconference in November/December 2019. Participants will be provided questions in advance to assist in preparing for the discussion.

Time Commitment: One teleconference that is approximately 1.5 hours in length.

Participants will be compensated for their time. Reimbursement will also be provided for travel expenses incurred to attend in-person meetings in Toronto.
