Update on COVID-19 Vaccination Roll-Out Across Public Health Units

March 30, 2021

The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) continues to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic, including vaccination information, variants of concern (VOCs) and region-specific safety measures and public health advice within the COVID-19 Response Framework. Thank you to Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs/MTs) for your continued efforts to prioritize the health and safety of Ontarians in this ongoing global pandemic.

CMTO is monitoring the vaccine roll-out closely and meets regularly with the Ontario Ministry of Health and other regulatory colleges for progress updates on the vaccination distribution plan.

Vaccines are distributed by Public Health Units (PHUs), in accordance with Ontario’s COVID-19 Vaccination Plan and Ethical Framework for COVID-19 Distribution. The roll-out for healthcare workers is sub-prioritized according to the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19: Guidance for Prioritizing Health Care Workers for COVID-19 Vaccination, and has begun in parallel with vaccination of other Phase 1 priority populations.

When requested by PHUs, CMTO has been sending email updates on their behalf to RMTs who live and/or work in those regions regarding vaccine eligibility. A list of broadcasts sent on behalf of PHUs regarding registration and/or pre-registration for COVID-19 vaccination can be found on CMTO’s COVID-19 webpage.

RMTs are encouraged to regularly access reliable, accurate and up-to-date information about the vaccine and its availability for themselves and others in their practice in your region by visiting www.ontario.ca/bookvaccine or your local PHU’s website.
