COVID-19 Update, Feedback on CMTO Standards, Renewal and More

November 4, 2020

We know it has been a busy time for Massage Therapists (RMTs/MTs). The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) would like to share a few important updates and reminders:

COVID-19 Update

With COVID-19 case numbers increasing across the province and on the Ontario Ministry of Health’s recommendation, CMTO is reminding all RMTs to strictly adhere to infection prevention and control practices in all aspects of Massage Therapy practice, not only during provision of care, but also in between client appointments and during breaks.

Please refer to CMTO’s COVID-19 webpage for a comprehensive list of resources, including COVID-19 resources for RMTs, resources for infection prevention and control, COVID-19 Pandemic Practice Guidance for Massage Therapists and responses to Frequently Asked Questions (new/updated FAQs are marked with a date).

If you still have questions after reviewing the information on the COVID-19 page of the CMTO website, please contact CMTO’s Practice Specialist at practicespecialist@cmto.com or by phone at 416-489-2626/1-800-465-1933 extension 4124.

Consultation on Draft Standards of Practice

CMTO is updating the Standards of Practice for Massage Therapy in Ontario. Standards of Practice play a key role in healthcare regulation and public protection by setting the requirements and expectations for all RMTs in Ontario. Feedback from RMTs is essential to shaping the new Standards of Practice. To share your feedback on any or all of the draft Standards of Practice, please complete this survey. We also encourage RMTs to share this survey with clients and colleagues.

Annual Renewal

We would like to thank all the RMTs who renewed their Certificate of Registration and paid the first installment by the November 1 deadline. If you haven’t paid your first installment, please do so without delay, it is now overdue. This is a friendly reminder that the second installment is due on or before March 1, 2021. For more information about how to make a payment and other questions, please review the 2021 Renewal Frequently Asked Questions document on the CMTO website. If you encounter any difficulties completing your renewal, please email registrationservices@cmto.com for assistance.

STRiVE

November 30 is just around the corner. If you have not yet completed your STRiVE requirements, we would encourage you to get started. Visit strive.cmto.com to learn more. If you still have questions, please contact the STRiVE Centre at 416-489-2626/1-800-465-1933 ext. 4150 or email strive@cmto.com.
