Call for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee non-Board Members

The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) is looking for non-Board Members to serve on CMTO’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee for a nine (9) month term with the potential for reappointment.

CMTO is dedicated to accessibility, diversity and equal opportunity and welcomes all applicants including but not limited to all religions and ethnicities, people with disabilities, 2SLGBTQI+, racialized people/people of colour, Indigenous/Aboriginal People of North America, and others who may contribute to the further diversification of Committee work.

What is the role of EDI Committee non-Board Members?  

As part of our current Strategic Plan, CMTO included a dedicated goal on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. CMTO has committed to embedding EDI into our organizational programs and processes and reporting publicly on our EDI progress.

EDI Committee Members will support this strategic goal and CMTO’s commitment to promoting and upholding the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in their practices, policies, and programs. This will be accomplished through identifying and recommending to the CMTO Board projects and initiatives that support the strategic focus on EDI.

Eligibility

To be eligible for appointment, you must meet all the criteria as outlined in CMTO’s By-Law No. 6, section 3(A) including: 

  • Reside in Ontario.
  • Have never been a registrant with CMTO.
  • Are not a member or an employee of the Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of Ontario or similar national or provincial organization; and
  • Haven’t been employed/contracted by CMTO within the last three years.

Minimum Requirements 

  • Experience working or participating in diversity-related programs or equivalent education.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • High School graduation or equivalent.

Compensation 

Non-Board Members are paid a pro-rated per diem of $275 based on full-day meetings and some preparation time. Meetings are primarily conducted virtually. However, should the need arise, an in-person meeting may be required. Out-of-pocket expenses, such as accommodations, meals and travel, will be reimbursed in accordance with CMTO’s compensation policy.

How do I apply?

  1. Review the following documents to determine whether you have the required competencies and can meet the time commitment:
  2. Complete CMTO’s Orientation Program. Completing this program ensures that you understand CMTO’s role in protecting the public interest and are   familiar with the duties, obligations and expectations of Committee Members.
  3. Fill out the EDI Committee Application Form
  4. Complete the EDI Committee Questionnaire Form (optional)
  5. Include a cover letter that contains a brief statement outlining why you are interested in becoming a Member of the EDI Committee, your lived experience, and any other information that may be relevant, such as additional skills, knowledge, attributes; and
  6. Include a current resume.

The completed application form, competencies assessment, cover letter and current resume must be received on or before 4 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at the Office of the Registrar: resumes@cmto.com.
