What’s Next for the Standards of Practice?
In Fall 2020, the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) reached out to Massage Therapists (MTs/RMTs), Massage Therapy clients, educators, students, other stakeholders and the public to solicit feedback on the draft Standards of Practice. This six-week consultation ran from October 1, 2020 to November 16, 2020.
Almost 1,580 respondents shared their feedback through an online survey. Thank you to everyone who participated in the consultation!
The consultation is one of the final steps in the Standards of Practice revision project.
Next Steps and Implementation
CMTO is currently analyzing all feedback received and will work with the Standards of Practice Advisory Group to address identified issues. The revised draft Standards of Practice will be brought forward to Council for approval in 2021. Implementation of the new Standards is planned for 2022, to allow enough time for RMTs to familiarize themselves with the new Standards of Practice before they go in effect.
The current Standards of Practice will remain in effect until the new Standards are released. For more information about the Standards of Practice revision, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
