Welcome 2024 Board Members!

February 2024

Following the CMTO’s Board Elections in November 2023, CMTO is pleased to welcome the following RMTs to CMTO’s Board:

  • Dawn Oehring, RMT in District 2
  • Robyn Libby, RMT in District 4
  • Tammy Contois, RMT in District 5.
  • Ravara Van Vliet, RMT, elected by acclamation for District 7.

We are also pleased to introduce Brian Highgate, Public Member, who was appointed by the Ontario Government to CMTO’s Board.

Dawn Oehring, RMT

Dawn Oehring

Dawn holds over 14 years of experience as an RMT and has worked across a variety of practice settings. Currently, Dawn is the owner of Core Elements, a Massage Therapy clinic based in Orleans.  She is also active with her local community college teaching the Massage Therapy program as clinical supervisor.

Robyn Libby, RMT

Robyn Libby

Robyn is a seasoned Massage Therapist with 22 years of experience in the profession. Robyn is thrilled to return to the CMTO’s Board for 2024. Born and raised in Vancouver, B.C., Robyn grew up in a family of legal and medical professionals and was instilled with the ideals of professional integrity and client care from an early age. After participating on CMTO’s Board between 2015 and 2017, Robyn assumed a leadership role at Marriott’s St. Regis Spa in Toronto, where she oversaw over twenty RMTs and worked closely with hotel management to seamlessly blend luxury experiences with regulatory compliance.

Tammy Contois, RMT

Tammy Contois

Tammy has been a Massage Therapist since 2000 and brings over 14 years of teaching experience in both private career and community colleges. Since 2019 Tammy has served as a non-Board Member on various CMTO’s Committees, including Client Relations, Quality Assurance, and Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee (ICRC). Additionally, she has served as panel chair for ICRC, and in an advisory role for the Risk-Based Assessment Advisory Group – gaining insights into governance, collaboration and sound decision-making. Starting in 2024, Tammy is excited to undertake this new opportunity to serve on CMTO’s Board as a professional Member to help the College work through its mandate of protecting the public interest.

Ravara Van Vliet, RMT

Ravara Van Vliet

Ravara graduated from Sutherland-Chan and has been a practitioner for 18 years and an educator for 10. Throughout her career, Ravara has been involved in instruction and curriculum development, managed large multidisciplinary clinics, ran her own business, and worked in various spa settings. She is passionate about the Massage Therapy profession and how educators can support and serve their communities both in the classroom and the treatment room.

Brian Highgate, Public Member 

Brian Highgate

Brian Highgate is a seasoned financial professional with over a decade of experience in the investment banking industry as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. Brian has advised numerous clients on complex transactions involving mergers, acquisitions, debt restructurings and financing. He has a proven track record of delivering value-added solutions and building long-term relationships with his clients. Brian is passionate about the financial markets and enjoys analyzing trends and opportunities in various sectors. He is also an avid reader, traveller and culinary enthusiast.
