STRiVE Updates
June 2023
Part 1: Be the Best You Can Be
Last fall, CMTO surveyed RMTs following the completion of STRiVE to get their feedback on the various components of “Be the Best You Can Be”. Based on the survey results and feedback obtained from RMT focus groups, CMTO is planning to make the following changes to STRiVE’s “Be the Best You Can Be”:
- An update to the online platform to enhance user experience;
- All RMTs will be on the same one-year cycle;
- RMTs will have from September 1 to October 31 to complete and submit their requirements;
- RMTs will no longer need to complete the Experiential Learning Exercise; and,
- The Self-Assessment will have fewer indicators and a simpler scale.

Part 2: Risk-based Assessment
Thank you to the 96.5% of RMTs who submitted their Practice Profile by the May 3rd deadline. And thank you to those who took the time to complete the feedback survey. Your feedback will inform our approach in future years.
We received some questions about what it means to have a risk to competence. RMTs may find it helpful to review the document that was linked in their individual Practice Profile results titled, “A Guide to Risks and Supports Affecting Health Professionals’ Competence”, which provided additional information on this topic.
If a certain factor is identified as a risk, this doesn’t mean the RMT has a problem; rather, Practice Profile provides awareness of potential risks and available supports. Knowing risks to competence will help RMTs continue their professional development and use other supports to continue fostering their knowledge, skills and judgement.
